Message from our CEO
2006 was a year of celebration for the Ohio North East Health Systems, Inc. (ONE Health). It marked our 20th year of serving the community’s health care needs especially to those who have no medical insurance and are medically underserved.
During our 20 year history we have made considerable strides to become one of the most recognized community health organizations in the nation. ONE Health has been a significant advocate for health care for the poor as evidenced by its testimonial before congress on behalf of the underserved patients; hosting the President of the United States in a forum on health care and hosting a number of other politically and medically influential individuals. Indeed, in a visit to our Youngstown site in 2004, President George W. Bush said:
“…And there's some really amazing things going on in the Youngstown area, as well as across the country, to make sure people have got a safety net. And that's what we're going to discuss, community health centers and why they're important for Ohio, why they're important for the country, and how they fit into a strategy to make sure we do a better job of controlling costs, as well as making sure people get health care.”
From the very early days, operating out of a 2-medical exam room office on Oak Street in Youngstown, we have grown to become an independent organization boasting three full-fledged community health centers located in three northeastern Ohio communities. These health centers now have a combined 21 medical exam rooms and 14 dental operatories to serve our patients. In 2005, ONE Health took care of 50,000 patient visits representing 15,000 individual lives.
Finally, we are excited about the future of our organization and our opportunity to help those in need. Along with our community partners and through compassion, dedication and humility, we will continue to realize the mission of the Ohio North East Health Systems:
To improve the health and well being of people in our communities by providing quality health care, particularly to the uninsured and underinsured.
